Company Member, Director of Marketing & Outreach

Kayla Wiese (she/her), originally from Rochester Hills and trainig in Kalamazoo, Michigan, is pursuing a BFA in dance at Western Michigan University School of Theater and Dance, where she has had the opportunity to work with choreographers such as Peter Chu, Annalee Traylor, Branndi Lewis, Monique Haley, and Kelsey Paschich. In 2024, Kayla joined Movement Reservoir Dance Company under the direction of Lachan Niedbala. During her time dancing with the company, Kayla has also taken on the role of choreographer. Kayla’s choreography has been presented at festivals including Dance City Detroit, where she was awarded "Dance City Festival Detroit 2026 International Exchange Best Works" to present her work at the ArtisinTank 2027 Festival in South Korea. She has also presented work at West Michigan Dance Festival and Terphsiore’s Dancing in Summer. In 2025, she was selected to present work at Detroit Metropolitan Dance’s (formerly Eisenhower Dance Detroit) NewDANCEfest as an Emerging Choreographer and was selected as the 2025 guest choreographer for Wellspring Dance Academy’s Youth Performing Ensemble. As a performer, Kayla has worked with Lindsey Hanson Collective on a series of projects, including site-specific work and film, located in various churches in West Michigan. She also performed as Minnie in the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra’s 2026 production of West Side Story at Miller Auditorium, choreographed by Erin Moore and directed by Chía Patiño. Outside of her school training, Kayla has been blessed with the opportunity to attend programs to enhance her training, such as Staibdance in Italy, BODYTRAFFIC, Detroit Metropolitan Dance’s winter intensive, and more.
